Meet the instructor

Certified ISR Instructor, of Virginia Beach Water Babies

When my son was just a baby, I heard about Infant Swim Resource (ISR) classes from a close friend. I saw my friend's son swimming effortlessly underwater at only 17 months old. It was absolutely fascinating! Upon researching ISR, and hearing about local drownings, I knew I wanted to get my son in lessons. I have now been teaching for just under 5 years.

In 2010, a military move took us away from my hometown of Tampa, FL and there was not a local instructor in the Virginia Beach area. I finally decided to spend the summer with my family in Tampa to get my oldest son (2 at the time and now 14) safe in the water. We spent our summers around pools, beaches and lakes and we knew this was an extra layer of protection for our family. Our younger two started lessons at only 6 months old.

We kept up with our refreshers and through them I grew close to the instructor who came to do lessons a few times a year in the Virginia Beach area. I had always had an interest in training to be an instructor and the timing was right in February of 2019. Since completing my training in the Spring of 2019, I have taught over 400 children how to swim and Self-Rescue. I enjoy educating our local communities about drowning prevention and different layers of protection.

I currently live in Virginia Beach with my husband who is Active Duty in the Navy. We have 3 children (5, 9, and 14) who still keep up with the skills that they have learned through their time in ISR lessons.
